A Boston Photographer’s Best of the Best: 2023 Client Superlatives

It’s wrap up time and this year, I have chosen to do something FUN to share! After 8 years in business, I feel like I am the luckiest photographers in Boston to have so many amazing clients (over 110 this year — WOW!!) who trust me to capture their story. But enough with the sap, let’s get to the fun…

1. Best Sibling Shots

Remember when you were young and all you wanted to do with your sibling was run around and have fun? Well that’s what I love to embrace as your Boston photographer. Capture the goofiness, smiles & cuddles between siblings.

2. Favorite Mom Moments

Let’s be honest, 99% of the time, its the moms who book their family photos and are the driving force behind pictures. The stress of the planning and getting out the door often falls on their shoulders. So let’s celebrate moms!

3. Curliest of Curls Award!

There’s just something about the curls…Don’t you agree?

4. Best Blossoms

Being a Boston photographer, we get the blooms in the spring and late summer. These blossoms can bring an image so much depth and beauty. Peonies are such gorgeous flowers and while it rained almost all of peony season this year, I am excited to offer them again next year (along with lavender field sessions!)

5. The “Let’s Move” Award…

I always love movement during a session, but these images take action to a new level. I have loved getting in on the action myself and capturing real moments with your child playing a sport they love so much!

6. Best Use of a Prop

If you know me, you know props aren’t my thing. But sometimes, it is what tells the best story. Or adds just the touch of whimsy beauty. That is always my thing!

7. Best Cuddle Puddle

Allowing my clients to simply sit and BE often makes the best images. Authentic moments that show the family love.

8. The “Blankets aren’t only for sitting” Award

So many ways to use a blanket during a session, but these families really rocked them all!!

9. Best Sunrise Session

This senior rocked her morning session…..While I don’t often suggest senior sessions at 7AM (well, because teenagers!), maybe I should! Would you want to do a sunrise Boston photography session?

10. Favorite Dad Moments

In the photography community, we often say dads can make or break a session. Come to a session ready to be present with your family and having fun with your kiddos, CHECK!

11. “When Animals are the stars” Award

Sometimes you get animals that just can’t help but be part of the session!! Dogs and even rabbits!

12. Best Silhouettes

I love creating silhouette images for families when the location & conditions allow. Here are some of my 2023 favorites!

14. If You Snooze….

You win this category!! Nothing better than a sleepy baby to capture beautiful images. I walk into every Boston newborn session and tell the parents I am on the hunt for one image and its ALWAYS the yawn!!

15. Best Flip

Sometimes you just need a little movement to make the shot! These girls sure knew how to get the best out of their hair!

16. The Best Dressed Award

I have searched high and low for the Best Dressed in Boston Photography. This award has to go to a branding client whose gorgeous clothing & accessories are the perfect backdrop! Thank you Swoon Boutique!

17. Favorite Black & Whites

I ADORE vibrant color, but sometimes the Black and White conversions are the ones that speak to my soul. Without the color to “distract”, the images become more emotive. Here are a few of my favorites this year.

18. Best Bribes

If you are a client of mine, you know I send out a prep guide which includes information about bribes! What works, what does not. This client got it right!!

19. Farthest Traveled for a session

This year, I was so fortunate to capture several families as they visited Boston on vacation. What a joy to see my city through their eyes. Being a Boston photographer has many advantages and this is one of the best ones!

20. Best Last Minute Session

Sitting on our family vacation in California this summer, this client texted asking if I could squeeze her in for her parents anniversary. Despite the time difference, we planned and executed this session for the day after we got home. Sometimes it’s just meant to be!

21. Best Tiny Tooters

Is there anything cuter than a baby toes? I could photograph those allllllll day!!

22. Favorite Water Shots

This year I have spent more time at the water as a Boston Photographer, both at local ponds and at the ocean. These sessions bring such joy to the families and I look forward to where 2024 families want to explore!

These families embody all that I love about photography. They are joyful, playing and loving. Families who want to chase their children, giggle, & then scoop them up for a snuggle. Families who don’t expect perfection, go with the flow and both parents engage in a loving way!

24. And last but not least, Best Skies!

I have spent time thinking about what I love most about an image. There are so many things, but an epic sky takes any photo to the next level. Which sky do you love the best?
